Interview with on Personal Power
by Marie Kaufmann
You are a Humaniversity Therapist since many years. You lead a group called Personal Power. What is personal power?
First of all, personal power is taking care of your physical health. Whenever I feel sick the rest of my life is not working. You need to take care of your body and to make sure that you are healthy, to eat the right food, not in a fanatic but in an enjoyable way. Secondly, personal power is to be able to express your feelings in a healthy way. The first step is to recognize your feelings, then to take them serious and find the right way to express them. Feelings often get piled up inside. They need to be taken care of and released, for example in release sessions like Flushing or the AUM meditation. In this way you clean your house hold of feelings. Thirdly, you need to have friends around you. Personal power is when you make this factor in your life important. Many people, including myself in the past, live an isolated life. With friends you can share yourself. They can give you support, advice and tips when you have difficulties, but also be there to have fun together. When you do not share your good feelings with others your life stays kind of shallow. Fourthly, it is essential to have fulfilling relationships, also sexual. Your personal power increases when you give it importance, pursue it and want to make it work. For me personally it has uplifted my life so munch to be in a relationship. Having good sex is also important, to get what you need and what you want. If you are not sexually fulfilled it tends to make your life sour and frustrating.
What is your passion to work with people on personal power?
I get a kick when I see people make an effort to manifest what they want to have in their lives. I get really touched if people take themselves serious to create a more happy life. I can also sometimes get very frustrated when people do not want to. In my work I will try everything to support them and I am ready to make it work.
What would you say are the major difficulties for people to be in their personal power?
One of the major ones is that people do not believe in themselves. I often come across that people think they are not good enough or that they are not worthy. It probably comes from the way they grew up and the limitations that they had to live with. All the conditioning has made it difficult for them to go for what they really want in their lives. Once you get yourself behind what you want you can realize it. People have much more energy and power that they think they have. And there is no other way than just doing it.
What happens with a person and their lives when they are in their personal power?
When they see that they can actually create what they want, they become happier. I turned 58 a few days ago and the fact that I get older, makes me feel the urge to do it now and not wait. Go for it, be happy!
What can a participant expect from the group Personal Power?
We do exercises in different areas that are related to personal power. We work with feelings, practice to take them serious and express them. We do exercises for the body and eat healthy food for a couple of days to see how it changes our energy. We do physical exercises to increase the physical strength, body contact, relating exercises where we discover and practice how to make more friends in our lives. Towards the end of the group when people have come closer we move towards the area of pleasure to see what is possible.
Anything else that you would like to add?
I very much look forward to go to Sweden. I always like to work there with the Swedish people. It is often not so easy for them to get started in the beginning of a group, but once they trust they go very deep and I like that very much.
